A highly reliable, exceptionally winter-hardy combination of two premium cherry varieties on a single trunk – a crisp pink-yellow sweet cherry and a sweet yellow heart cherry from the Baltics.

1. Sweet Cherry 'Brjanskaja Rozovaja' (Late sweet cherry / crisp)

An exceptionally winter-hardy Russian treasure yielding firm, sweet, pink-yellow cherries that reliably resist cracking in the rain.

In the second to third decade of July (late in the month), the superb sweet cherry 'Brjanskaja Rozovaja' ripens. Originating from Bryansk, Russia (a seedling of open-pollinated 'Muskatnaja Chernaja', registered in 1993), it is highly valued for its capacity to withstand severe frosts and adverse summer weather.

Key advantages of the variety:

• Superb winter hardiness: Both wood and flower buds demonstrate excellent frost resistance, surviving even the harshest winters without damage.
• Resistance to cracking: Fruits remain firm and do not split or rot, even during heavy, persistent summer rains.
• Consistent productivity: Enters bearing very early (typically in the 2nd to 3rd year after planting) and crops regularly.
• Excellent overall health: Features good resistance to fungal diseases, including cherry leaf spot.

Fruit and Harvest

• Appearance: Medium-sized, oblate-spherical fruits (4 – 4.5 g). The yellow ground color of the smooth, glossy skin is covered with a bright, pink-red blush.
• Flesh and flavor: Cream-colored, firm (crisp/bigarreau), very juicy, and intensely sweet.
• Harvest period: Mid-to-late July. The fruits show good transportability.
• Pollination: Partially self-fertile, though cross-pollination with the second variety on the tree significantly increases the total crop load.

2. Sweet Cherry 'Paula' (Medium-early yellow sweet cherry)

A Latvian masterpiece yielding large, vibrant yellow cherries with a delicate sweet flavor and high natural sugar content.

In late June and early July, the Latvian heart cherry 'Paula' takes over. Bred in Dobele by the renowned pomologist Dr. Silvija Ruisa (open pollination of 'Krupnoplodnaja', registered in 2011), it features purely yellow-colored fruits, which are naturally less attractive to birds than red varieties.

Key advantages of the variety:

• High sweetness: Excellent sugar levels (reaching 16.5 °Brix) make it perfect for fresh consumption as well as a natural sweetener for juices.
• Reliable hardiness: The tree shows good frost resistance (both wood and buds) and a solid general health profile.
• Easy training: Grows moderately fast, producing an easily manageable, pyramidal crown with wide branch angles.

Fruit and Harvest

• Appearance and flavor: Medium to large, heart-shaped fruits of a pure yellow color. The creamy-yellow flesh is moderately firm, very fine-textured, and sweet. It contains a high amount of beneficial phenolic antioxidants.
• Harvest period: Late June to early July (depending on spring weather).
• Note: During extremely rainy harvest periods, the fruit may exhibit a slight susceptibility to cracking.
