The Evelina apple tree is a popular variety that has gained high popularity mainly due to the apples with exceptional taste characteristics that are available commercially. The taste of Evelina apples has captivated many a customer and the desire to grow this variety in one's own garden is quite understandable. The variety is considered to be a mutation of the Pinova variety, with which it has very similar characteristics and for many growers the taste is almost identical.

Evelina is a well-known German variety which has repeatedly won many awards not only in Slovakia thanks to its taste characteristics. Evelina fruits are known for their pleasant sweet taste with a faint hint of mild acidity. The flesh is crisp, juicy with a delicate aroma. It is exactly the variety that the grower reaches for straight from the tree, as it is ideal for direct consumption and for all forms of further processing of apples as we know them.

Growing

It is a winter variety with a good shelf life, which is also used in commercial farming and marketing. It does not suffer from any particularly serious diseases and its care and chemical protection is no different from that of other apple trees. It comes into bearing earlier and gradually with a high yield. The fruit ripens during October. The variety is better suited to warm and temperate regions.

Container trees are on sale. Planting of such trees is possible at any time of the year. However, it is necessary to take into account the root ball and the soil. Care should be taken when removing the tree and placing it in the hole dug and prepared for it, in respect of the crown and any fruit on it. Choose a suitable sunny and sheltered location. When planting a young tree, it is advisable to provide it with a support (stake, sufficiently high post or triple post with a tether). If necessary, consider protecting the trunk and young bark from the bite of possible penetrating game, rabbits, etc.
