Family Apple Tree (4 in 1): Konfetnoje + Doch Melby + Beržeņinku Ananass + Kovaļenkovskoje

A unique fruit tree combining the sweetest summer and autumn varieties from Russia, Belarus, and the Baltics. Enjoy apples from July's "candies" to honey-sweet autumn fruits with zero acidity.

1. Apple 'Konfetnoye' (Summer Variety)

A highly popular Russian summer variety prized for its extremely sweet, candy-like dessert flavor and outstanding frost hardiness.

The 'Konfetnoye' (translating to Candy) variety opens the fruit season on this tree. Bred from 'Papirovka' and 'Korobovka', it is widely loved for its pure, mild sweetness completely devoid of acidity. It is an ideal apple for children to enjoy fresh straight from the tree.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Candy-like sweetness: Excellent dessert flavor with a strong aroma and no tartness.
  • Early bearing: Starts producing fruit as early as 3 to 4 years after planting.
  • High frost hardiness: Easily withstands temperatures down to -34 °C (-29 °F).
Fruit and Harvest
  • Appearance: Medium-sized yellow apples (80–120 g) with red-pink striping. The flesh is creamy, fine-grained, and very juicy.
  • Harvest Time: Late July to early August.
  • Storability: Short (lasts approx. 1 month in cold storage). The fruits are sensitive to bruising, so they are best for direct consumption or quick processing into jams and purees.

2. Apple 'Doch Melby' (Late Summer / Early Autumn Variety)

A juicy and hardy Russian offspring of the 'Melba' apple, reliably withstanding frosts down to -35 °C.

At the turn of summer, the 'Doch Melby' variety ripens. Originating from the Leningrad region (Pavlovsk Station), it boasts exceptional frost hardiness and reliable crops of beautiful, red-blushed aromatic apples.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Extreme frost hardiness: Withstands temperatures down to -35 °C (-31 °F), ideal for higher altitudes.
  • Large fruits: Average weight 130 g with an attractive red blush and dots.
  • High resistance: Good resistance to scab and healthy growth.
Fruit and Harvest
  • Flavor and Flesh: White, very juicy, and highly aromatic flesh with a balanced sweet-sour flavor.
  • Harvest Time: Late summer to early autumn (turn of August and September).
  • Storability: Short, meant for quick consumption or canning.

3. Apple 'Beržeņinku Ananass' (Autumn Variety)

A famous Lithuanian jewel featuring large fruits, high disease resistance, and an unsurpassed pineapple fragrance.

At the same time, the Lithuanian legend 'Beržeņinku Ananass' (syn. Beržininkų ananasas), an old variety discovered in 1886, takes the stage. It is highly valued for its large fruits, which turn a beautiful ivory color at maturity, and its excellent health profile.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Aromatic Flavor: Outstanding, sweet-sour taste with a typical, robust pineapple note.
  • Large Fruits: Average weight of up to 155 g.
  • High Resistance: Fully resistant to scab, powdery mildew, and fruit rot.
Fruit and Harvest
  • Appearance: Roundish-conical fruits, yellow to ivory with an orange blush on the sunny side. The flesh is firm and juicy.
  • Harvest Time: Late August to early September. Keeps in the cellar until December.

4. Apple 'Kovalenkovskoye' (Autumn Variety)

A Belarusian unique variety with extra-sweet, dark red fruits containing zero acidity – even before full ripeness!

The autumn season on this tree is grandly completed by the variety 'Kovalenkovskoye' (also known as Red Sweet). It is a dream come true for lovers of purely sweet dessert apples. The fruits are large, crunchy, and absolutely sweet with no trace of acidity. Furthermore, they hold firmly on the branches and do not drop.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Purely Sweet Flavor: Sweet, aromatic flesh with no acidity, perfect for children.
  • Attractive Fruits: Large apples (150 – 180 g) of an intense dark red color.
  • Loss-Free Harvest: Ripe fruits do not drop and hold firmly to the branches.
  • High frost hardiness and early onset of bearing (by the 2nd or 3rd year).
Fruit and Harvest
  • Flesh and Taste: White, medium-firm, juicy, and crunchy flesh with an intensely sweet taste.
  • Harvest Time: Ripens gradually from late August to mid-September.
  • Storability: Good; keeps fresh in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
  • Pruning tip: The tree has medium vigor and forms a dense, round crown, so regular pruning to thin the branches is recommended.
