Gooseberry (Ribes uva-crispa) 'Maija'

A Latvian variety with extra-large fruits and commercial potential.

'Maija' is a modern and very promising Latvian gooseberry variety, prized especially for its very large berries and extremely high productivity. The fruits have an attractive light green color and a very good taste. The bush grows vigorously, upright, and compactly, making it suitable not only for home gardens but also for commercial orchards, where it is also well-suited for trellis cultivation and mechanical harvesting. The variety has good resistance to frost and American powdery mildew.
