Pear (Pyrus communis) 'Carpica'
Autumn Romanian variety with creamy flesh, ideal for organic growing.
'Carpica' is a valuable autumn pear variety bred at the Piteşti – Mărăcineni institute by crossing the quality varieties ‘Napoca’ and ‘B.P. Morettini’. It is extremely popular in home gardens because it combines excellent fruit quality with high resistance to diseases and pests, reducing the need for chemical protection.
Main advantages of the variety:
- Resistance to diseases and pests (suitable for organic gardens).
- Fine, creamy, and melting flesh.
- Very early bearing onset (2nd – 3rd year).
- High and regular yield.
- Attractive fruits with a distinct red blush.

- Bearing: Starts bearing very early (2nd – 3rd year), crops heavily and regularly.

- Shape and Color: Conical-pyriform, stout. Base color is straw-yellow, covered with a red blush on the sunny side (approx. 50% of surface).
- Flesh: White to white-yellowish, fine, creamy, melting, and juicy.
